Fidesz and KDNP have been committed to peace since the outbreak of the war, which is why they submitted a resolution to the Parliament that states that no one can drag Hungary into war, Róbert Zsigó, State Secretary for Families, announced at his online press conference.
The Fidesz politician emphasized that in the pro-peace resolution, they consolidate their commitment to peace, condemn Russia's military aggression, and recognize Ukraine's right to self-defense. He added that, at the same time, they oppose the Brussels sanctions that hit the energy sector, and at the same time confirm that immediate peace negotiations are needed instead of arms shipments.
Róbert Zsigó pointed out that the purpose of the pro-peace resolution is to draw attention to the vulnerability of Transcarpathian Hungarians, and at the same time they request that the government continue to provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
The politician emphasized that Hungary continues to resist any external or internal pressure that would push it towards war. He added that it is clear from the statements of the dollar left that they do not support the pro-peace statement. As he said, Ferenc Gyurcsány's party indicated at a press conference that they will not sign or support the pro-peace resolution.
Róbert Zsigó noted that they are not surprised by this, since the dollar left has been on the side of the war since the outbreak of the war, and they would send weapons and reinforcements to the front to this day. This is supported by their statements and also by the fact that they vote on all related Brussels resolutions in the European Parliament.
The Fidesz politician emphasized that the dollar left is doing this as if the people clearly decided in the 2022 parliamentary election that Hungary should stay out of the war. Fidesz and the KDNP will not let Hungary be drawn into the war, he said.
