The British government's counter-terrorism program Prevent has released a guide identifying a number of popular UK films, TV series and literary works as potential signs of far-right extremism. Among the works mentioned are The Lord of the Rings, all the works of William Shakespeare and the war film The Dam Bombers. According to the program, fictional works are key texts for white nationalists and supremacists, reports V4na.com .

A report by Prevent's Research, Information and Communications Unit (RICU) also claimed that far-right extremists are also promoting reading lists on online forums. Therefore, the report also listed works from the most famous classical writers, which were identified as possible red flags of extremism. Among them were Shakespeare, Chaucer, Milton, Tennyson, Kipling and Edmund Burke, but the BBC's Great British Rail Journeys, presented by former Conservative minister Michael Portillo, was branded as favorable by far right

The list was compiled following a major review of Prevent by William Shawcross, which detailed the shortcomings of the Prevent system and found a double standard against Islamist and far-right threats. Prevent has also been accused of prioritizing far-right activity and not taking Islamist threats seriously enough.

Following the results of the Prevent review, British Home Secretary Suella Braverman also warned that not enough has been done recently to eradicate the well-coordinated Islamist network present in the UK, which can be attributed to political correctness.

"There is a blind spot in the system. And this has allowed certain Islamist groups to operate outside our radar. That is why political correctness has no place in our national security. In fact, I want to completely banish political correctness from the system.”

said the Minister of the Interior.
