We rarely agree with liberal or left-wing opinions, but now Mick Wallace, a left-wing member of the European Parliament from Ireland, "spoke from our mouths" when he criticized why, in addition to condemning Putin, the International Criminal Court (ICC) does not hold him responsible for the "war crimes committed" in Iraq, Afghanistan or Libya crimes" that he believes were committed by the West and especially by the United States. According to the Russian embassy in Washington, the American position is hypocritical, since they are "silent about their own crimes."

"Everyone who has committed war crimes must be held accountable. In addition to the war in Ukraine, all other wars must be examined. The Iraq war broke out twenty years ago, during which one million civilians lost their lives. When will Bush or Blair be arrested?” - wrote Mick Wallace, a left-wing member of the European Parliament, in his Twitter post

Wallace shared his post after the ICC issued an arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin, among others, for his alleged responsibility for war crimes. According to the accusations, Putin participated in the deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia. Moscow has denied accusations of war crimes during the invasion. The Kremlin says the court's charges against Putin are outrageous and meaningless to Russia's jurisdiction.

As a post shared by Wallace reminds us, in addition to Russia and the United States, China, Iraq, Israel, Libya, Yemen or even Qatar are not members of the international organization.

However, the MEP complains about why, in addition to other war crimes, former American President George W. Bush and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair are not being investigated in connection with the war against Iraq.

While US President Joe Biden welcomed the news of Putin's arrest warrant, the Russian Embassy in Washington called the US position "sluggish schizophrenia".

The American authorities, allowing themselves to make unacceptable comments about the Russian leader, are deliberately silent about their own atrocities committed in Iraq, Yugoslavia, Libya or even in Vietnam

– can be read in the embassy's Telegram post .

The Russian state news agency RIA Novosty also reminded that "Washington is not only not a member of the ICC, but has repeatedly accused it of corruption and bias after the ICC tried to launch an investigation into US war crimes in Afghanistan."

They added: Washington did not shy away from sanctions against ICC employees.
