Mayor Gergely Karácsony withdrew road renovation subsidies from several right-wing districts, including the XVI. district was also able to implement the planned reconstructions with government funds.

The office of Kristóf Szatmáry, member of parliament, informed vasarnap.hu that  the plan for the road renovation of Magtár utca and Rózsa utca was already ready in the fall of 2019, as this was done in the 16th century. the district self-government planned it with its own funds, agreed with the population and obtained the permits from the specialized authorities, and then handed it over to the capital city self-government for implementation free of charge.

According to the information received, Gergely Karácsony stopped these road renovations despite the fact that the Metropolitan Assembly had already decided on their implementation.

On the other hand, the mayor has decided that he will not carry out the renovation of these main roads in the next four years, and even a single XVI. they don't touch the main district road, that's why

Kristóf Szatmáry had to get back what Gergely Karácsony took, they wrote in the information.

The government decision according to which the XVI. the district municipality received HUF 2,383 million for the renovation of main roads managed by the Metropolitan Municipality.

According to the report, not only the XVI. district, but also almost all Fidesz-KDNP-led districts, according to them

the decision, which was obviously made as a party political punishment, had to be made good by the government.

Since then, the renovations have been completed, the last road was handed over in February 2023.
