The majority of family doctors in Győr and Győr-Moson-Sopron county have already agreed on the operation of the new on-call structure, so the system can operate smoothly from April, said Elza Pergel in the program Hangoló on Karc FM. According to the deputy mayor of Győr, the county president of the Hungarian Medical Chamber, László Szijjártó, played a major role in the resistance of the family doctors, who managed to influence the doctors.
Elza Pergel was confused by the objections of family doctors regarding the transformation of the on-call system, because the municipality has been preparing for the transformation for three years, and even tried to involve the leaders of the Petz Aladár University Teaching Hospital in this work from the beginning. According to the deputy mayor of Győr, family doctors have been urging the restructuring of the on-call system for years, while resisting the initiatives regarding the restructuring. As a result of their protest, it was very difficult to start the new on-call system, and the duties of the absent family doctors were performed by the residents and the ambulance service staff.
At the same time, the deputy mayor highlighted:
Elza Pergel also touched on the fact that the president of the Győr-Moson-Sopron counties of the Hungarian Chamber of Physicians (MOK) played a big role in the resistance of the doctors, who was able to lead the family doctors in the wrong direction.
In order to resolve the situation, the chief medical officer of the district, Katalin Szász, contacted the general practitioners in the form of a decision, in which she drew their attention to the legal consequences of not registering in the on-call system. According to his knowledge, this call for attention has already mobilized seventy-five percent of general practitioners, who also complied with their registration obligation.
As our paper also wrote, the chief medical officers of the counties of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg and Győr-Moson-Sopron warned the protesting primary care providers to be on duty twice a month, from four in the afternoon to ten in the evening, and to report back to the chief medical officer's office by March 31 , that they complied with the invitation. Anyone who does not comply with the notice contained in the decision may be fined from HUF thirty thousand to HUF five million, and their practice license may be revoked.
In response to what happened, the leaders of the Hungarian Medical Chamber advised family doctors protesting against the new on-call system to apply for on-call work, but not to sign the contract with the National Ambulance Service. Gyulá Kincses called the notice a dangerous and unnecessary threat, but at the same time they believed that it should be respected.
The medical chamber also raised the possibility that it would initiate a public administrative lawsuit to annul the medical officer's decision, which it considers to be faulty. Reacting to Kincsesék's statement, Gergely Gulyás, the minister in charge of the Prime Minister's Office, clarified at the same time in the latest Government Info:
By the way, the National Ambulance Service also indicated that more than 130 general practitioners have signed up for service in Győr-Moson-Sopron, and in the county of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén - where they will be switching to the new on-call system - an increasing number are also joining.
