There are less than two weeks until the arrival of Pope Francis, and it is no coincidence that the preparatory works are also in an increasingly advanced state. On Kossuth Square, the metal scaffolding and platform will be built, which will provide a place for the Holy Mass that will begin at 9:30 a.m. on April 30, the third day of Pope Francis' visit.
It is perhaps not an exaggeration to say that this Mass celebrated on Good Shepherd Sunday will be the highlight of the papal visit. You do not need to register separately for the event, but it is worth starting as early as possible, you can enter the square - after a security check - as early as six in the morning. The wharf will be closed for safety reasons, Kossuth square can be approached from Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út and Szabadság tér.
The altar will be in the northern part of the square, in front of the Kossuth sculpture group.
The square will be closed around 8 o'clock. Those who were unable to enter the square can follow the Mass on the sides of Alkotmány utca and Szabadság tér, where there will also be projectors and Eucharistic tents set up.
Pilgrims will be provided with free travel on the MÁV-START, GYSEV Zrt. and Volán flights on the afternoon of the 29th, on the morning of the 30th, and for the return journey in the afternoon. This option can be used without separate registration. regarding the organization of group travel is available HERE
