The world-famous opera singer Éva Marton spoke about the issue of patriotism and Hungary's image. The discussion was held at the "Decret of our Hungary - our civilizational heritage" conference of the Friends of Hungary Foundation on April 24.

In doing so, he stated

"wherever I performed in the world, I felt that I was an ambassador for our country, for Hungarian art. It was an honorable task that, traveling the world, I could say everywhere that I was Hungarian" .

Regarding the anniversary of Aranybulla, he believed that its view of truth was convincing. Hungary is not big, but it is ours, we have the right to nurture our own language and art.

The Golden Bull symbolizes the truth and the need to say it, because no one here in Europe says it except us"

- said the opera singer.

To the question of how Hungary can make friends, he answered, "you have to do things for each other, you have to bring people together. People abroad often think that we are a simple people: only goulash, paprika, plain, csíkós... This is long behind us. We are also sensitive to the beautiful and the good, we also have high-level needs", he said. He also believed that there are quite a few people in our ranks who spread prejudices about us. These should be refuted with love and calmness. The formative power of theater, opera, music and other arts can be of great help in this, said Éva Marton.
