Yesterday afternoon, the Sándor Palace issued the following statement:
"The week of the papal visit is a special occasion for the head of state to exercise his power of pardon. Therefore, the President of the Republic decided to issue a wide pardon on this occasion.
In addition to others, the President of the Republic also pardoned those convicted in the case known as the Hunnia trial, in whose case he decided to suspend the prison term."
Media1 last night : he is very horrified by the decision to pardon György Budaházy, according to today's announcement by President Katalin Novák.
Csintalan believes that Budaházy conspired to overthrow the existing constitutional system by force, and even acted for this purpose.
The former politician added that the release of Budaházy from prison is even more outrageous because the president of the republic is doing it on the grounds that Pope Francis is visiting our country. According to Sándor Csintalan, referring to the Holy Father in such an immoral and outrageous decision is sacrilege and disrespectful to the Pope and the entire Church.
Sándor Csintalan said that with the current act, Katalin Novák and her colleagues are carving a kind of national hero, Robin Hood, out of a person who deserves the exact opposite.
The former TV personality who was beaten by György Budaházy's organization also stated to Media1 that the whole move is another sad step towards a fascist Hungary.
