This year, the World Dance Day will be celebrated with a large-scale event in Marosvásárhely, on Saturday, more than a thousand modern and folk dancers will perform on Színház square.

World Dance Day has been celebrated on April 29 for more than forty years, since 1982. In Marosvásárhely, the Maros Art Ensemble has been drawing the attention of the city's residents to this World Day and the importance of folk dance with small and large performances and lightning strikes for several years. Last year, they organized a large-scale event, which they are preparing for this year as well.

The director of the Maros Art Ensemble, Csaba Attila Barabási, said that even during the epidemic, they commemorated World Day with smaller dance scenes at several locations, while last year they organized a big lightning festival. At the time, they expected that half a thousand folk dancers would be invited to Színház square to dance individually and together, but during the organization they were confronted with the fact that there are many modern dance groups in Marosvásárhely, many of which are danced by disabled people. They didn't want to leave them out, either

last year a total of a thousand dancers dazzled the spectators on the main square of Marosvásárhely.

Tomorrow, from 3 p.m., modern dancers, as well as disabled dancers belonging to the Hifa Association, will perform. From 5 p.m., the folk dancers: Hungarians, Romanians, Gypsies and Saxons, who are warmly welcomed either in folk costumes or everyday clothes, will take the stage. As of Tuesday noon, 1,075 dancers have already indicated that they will participate in the celebration of the world day, and those who want to join the event are still waiting.
