According to forensic psychologist Márk Kitanics, such an antisocial personality may be hiding behind the Serbian youth; who may be smart but have zero emotional intelligence.
On Wednesday, a tragedy happened in our immediate vicinity, the kind of which we only heard about from across the sea: a Belgrade student organized a mass massacre in his own school, killing his fellow students in cold blood with a gun he had acquired from his father. A total of nine people lost their lives in the carnage, eight students and a school guard.
Serbia was shocked by the tragedy, and all that is currently known about the perpetrator is that although he may have been planning the massacre for months, no one would have thought that he would be capable of committing such an atrocity. According to the news, the young man may have been influenced by some kind of computer game .In our country, it is only thanks to the attention of the authorities that such a tragedy has not happened so far, the TEK arrested a young man from Miskolc just one month ago, who was preparing for a similar act to what the Serbian student did now.
Last October, however, there was already a serious case in this country, a student of a Budapest high school stabbed one of his fellow students in the neck with a knife during one of his classes, without any prior history, who suffered life-threatening injuries.
According to the news, the attacker had previously been harassed by his peers due to his mental problems, and this is how he wanted to make amends for what happened. Due to last year's stabbing, forensic psychologist Márk Kitanics already warned Mandiner:
unfortunately, it was expected that such a case would happen sooner or later, and we must prepare for similar situations in the future. In connection with the current case, Márk Kitanics said: an antisocial personality may be hiding behind the Serbian youth who was not properly brought up, his moral thinking was not properly developed, and he has no sense of guilt for this. He may be a child with a bleak emotional world. Such young people are characterized by social isolation, the fact that they do not have many friends. They have sadistic motives, such as torturing animals and damaging objects.
In addition, it may also be that they want to be famous in the background, because they see cases in the media and on the Internet that it is possible to gain fame in this way. Someone can still be a smart child with zero emotional intelligence and empathy skills, said the expert .He repeated that, unfortunately, we must prepare for such cases. As he said, there is the concept of social contagion, when someone starts to follow the behavior patterns of others because it might be important to him. This is the case when, for example, a famous musician commits suicide and many of his fans try to follow him. In the same way, in a school shooting, it is possible that someone sees such an incident and tries to become famous in this way.
