Even those who do not follow sports news have learned the name of Fábián Marozsán. A country pressed for him, a bright future awaits this Hungarian boy.
The international media also reported as a big surprise that Fábián Marozsán, ranked 135th in the world, defeated the future world number one Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz over the weekend and reached the round of 16 at the clay court tennis tournament in Rome.
The 23-year-old tennis player from Hajdúszoboszló SE, who started from the qualifiers, happily declared after the victory:
“I dreamed last night that I would win today and it came true. I tried to pull something special to win a few games, maybe a set, but I was still playing against a former and future world number one. Everything went perfectly for me today, the weather, the spectators, the track, everything played into my hands. In the tie-break I won six points in a row at 1-4. I don't really know what happened there, I just focused on hitting every single ball back. This is the biggest success of my career so far, because I beat the best in the world."
Gábor Köves told MTI that he could give a big boost to Marozsán's career, that he reached the main draw for the first time in an ATP tournament, was able to win matches, and is now in the round of 16 in a 1000 tournament.
"How much will be revealed in the future. It must not fly away. By the way, he is a very modest boy, he needs a little swagger, but today he had that too"
- he pointed out, reminding that Alcaraz had two defeats so far this year, the third was against Fábián Marozsán.
The Hungarian excellence, who bid farewell to Alcaraz in the previous round, started last night against his Croatian opponent, Borna Coric , where he left off on Monday against the Spanish Alcaraz; he easily won the first game with great aggressiveness, easy drops, and fast ball movements. Then, perhaps Fábi's fatigue can be attributed to the fact that Coric got up from the floor, won the Hungarian tennis player's serve at the end of the second game, and then easily won the third set.
Even so, he won 5 matches in Rome against Fábián Marozsán, who will almost certainly be a TOP100 tennis player from Monday!
