The Cannes Film Festival is already in full swing, where Flóra Buda's animated film 27
Of course, the big show was not left behind either. On the first day of the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, Catherine Zeta-Jones walked the red carpet in a breathtaking red Elie Saab dress alongside Michael Douglas, who was honored with the Palme d'Or. Their daughter, 20-year-old Cary Zeta Douglas, also showed her support and made her debut on the festival's red carpet alongside them.
The festival was opened by the French biographical drama Jeanne Du Barry, after the premiere of which Johnny Depp received a seven-minute ovation, who played XV. Lajos returned to the screen as King - the 59-year-old actor greeted the audience fighting back tears. Hundreds of supporting fans also arrived at the venue, but not everyone was happy with the actor's success.
Returning to our performance, the audience stood and applauded Judith Elek , who came to the screening of the film The Island on the Land. The work shot in 1969 was invited to the Cannes Classics selection, which presents restored films.
"It's a great honor, as always, to be here, because I have to admit that I owe my identity as a director to Cannes," said the 93-year-old director on stage.
Another commendable domestic aspect is that 11 of the 4,288 short films entered - including the Hungarian ones - can compete for the Golden Palm, which will be handed over to the director of the short film that won the main prize at the prize-giving ceremony on May 27 by the president of the jury Ildikó Enyedi (we wrote about it here ) .
According to the announcement of the Boddah office, which produced the film, Anna Flóra Buda graduated in 2018 from the animation directing department of the Moholy-Nagy University of Arts (MOME Anim). His graduation film, Entropy, debuted at the 2019 Berlinale, where he won the Teddy Award. The film was subsequently featured in the programs of more than a hundred other festivals.
The protagonist of the 11-minute work invited to the Cannes selection is 27-year-old Alíz, who still lives with her parents. During a fun night on his birthday, he realizes that it's time to say goodbye to illusions and live the reality that surrounds him, the production office wrote.
The film will be shown in Hungary in June
After the presentation in Cannes, the production entitled 27 will also compete in Annecy, one of the most prestigious animation film festivals in the world, in June, where it was also included in the short film competition program, but even before that, viewers in Hungary can also see the work on June 1-7.
