224 days after the beginning of the siege, the leader of the Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, announced the capture of the strategically important city. The capture of Bahmut fell within a day of the one-year anniversary of the fall of Mariupol.

The leader of the Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, announced the complete occupation of the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk People's Republic.

"Today (...) we completely occupied Bahmut"

Prigozhin said in his statement. The leader of the mercenary group said: "Our sons besieged this city for 224 days". He continued like that

 "only Wagner's private army was here",

contrary to what Konasenkov said, "they didn't help us, we helped ourselves". He also recalled that Wagner's private army voluntarily joined the war. Prigozhin also thanked the Russian people for their support,

"I want to thank the Russian people who supported us"

he said. He also thanked Putin for his help, but did not treat Defense Minister Shoigu and Chief of Staff Gerasimov with a gloved hand.

"They managed to fulfill their whims in the war. Because of their whims, five times more of our sons died than they should have," Prigozhin told the two military leaders, according to whom the named "worked against us, practically supporting the enemy in this matter."

At the end of the video, Prigozhin also announced that they would withdraw and rest their troops from May 25.

The current Russian military success happened on the first anniversary of the capture of another important city, Mariupol.
