Warsaw strongly opposes the new plan for a mandatory migrant distribution mechanism within the European Union, Polish government spokesman Piotr Müller emphasized on Friday.

The spokesperson answered a journalist's question about the European Commission's plan at a press conference.

"Our government's position on this matter remains unchanged. In our opinion, no mechanism of forced resettlement can take place, we will strongly protest in this matter"

On Wednesday, the PAP news agency quoted Andrzej Sados, the head of Poland's permanent representation to the European Union (EU), who objected during his negotiations in Brussels that, according to the new draft on the distribution of migrants, countries that do not accept a certain number of migrants to Europe from the south and east arriving migrant, they would have to pay 22,000 euros in exchange for rejecting each immigrant. Sados argued that there are one million Ukrainian refugees living in Poland, to whom the EU has so far given a total of 200 million euros in support. Thus, Brussels allocated 200 euros for one Ukrainian refugee, pointed out the ambassador, who called the difference between the amount received for those coming from the south and the east and for refugees from Ukraine a "blatant disproportion".

draft was also criticized by the Polish Minister of the Interior on Thursday.

"We reject and will reject the mandatory relocation of migrants to Poland"

wrote Mariusz Kaminski on Twitter.

Szymon Szynkowski vel Sek recalled in his Twitter post on Wednesday evening: Poland also opposed previous EU migrant distribution mechanisms. "We were right, those proposals turned out to be harmful and ineffective," underlined Szynkowski with Sek. He added: Warsaw will " consistently and firmly oppose attempts to return to such ideas" .
