At dawn on Friday, the Székely fast and the Csíksomlyó express set off for the trip to Csíksomlyó, Transylvania - the Carpathian European Travel Agency, which organized the trip, informed MTI.

The Csíksomlyó express departed from Transdanubia, Szombathely in the early hours of the morning, then arrived in Budapest, at the Keleti railway station, via Sopron, Kapuvár, Csorna, Győr, Komárom and Tatabánya. The Csíksomlyó express and the Székely express left Budapest via Szolnok and Püspökladány, connecting each other to Transylvania. There, it continues on the Nagyvárad-Kolozsvár-Dés-Déda-Gyergyószentmiklós-Felcsík and Alcsík villages route towards Székelyföld.

The special train, which is about half a kilometer long, takes almost two and a half thousand pilgrims to the farewell in Csíksomlyó. The day after the Mass, the trains continue to Gyimesbük, the thousand-year-old border of historic Hungary, where pilgrims can participate in a day-long celebration and hand over the donations collected on the train for the benefit of the Székely-Csángó-Hungarian children.

The organizers are commemorating the Kossuth Prize-winning Székely-Hungarian writer Áron Tamási

In addition to the Karpáteurópa Utazási Iroda, the Misszió Tours travel agency also organized train pilgrimages to the farewell to Csíksomlyó. The Pilgrimage Train of the Blessed Virgin left on Thursday with almost 900 passengers.

According to legend, the first farewell procession in Csíksomlyo was held in 1567, when the János Zsigmond tried to force the Catholic Szeklers to adopt the Unitarian religion at gunpoint. The people of Csík, Gyergyó and Kászon gathered in Csíksomlyo on Pentecost Saturday, Szůz Mária , and then defeated the prince's army at the Hargita Tolvajos Pass. After the victory, they gave thanks again in Csíksomlyo, and also made a vow that they would make a pilgrimage there every year on Pentecost Saturday.
