Tens of thousands of commentators, athletes, public figures and friends say goodbye to the climber who disappeared near Mount Everest.
The rescue team did not find Suhajda Szilárd, the search has ended, taking into account the time, weather and terrain conditions, there is no further chance that the climber will be found alive.
The disappearance of the mountaineer shocked people, they are already saying goodbye to the athlete on social media.
Zsuzsa Csisztu wrote that she and her family are praying for Szilárd Suhajda, and one of the climber's fans wrote the following on her social media page:
Few people on earth are closer to God than you, Szili, I hope you know. Sit next to him on a cloud, and watch over the path of your little family from there, let the light of your star guide them. Have a good trip, may the power of the mountains be with you!
Journalist Sándor Jászberényi said goodbye to Szilárd Suhajda with Federico García Lorca's poem "A soul away".
"The search for Suhajda Szilárd has been completed. He was a brave man, his family can be proud of him, and so can all Hungarians. There was one of these people who did not run. There is no shame in failing. It's the lack of trying. I am including an excerpt from García Lorca's poem translated by László Nagy, because it says a thousand times more than anything I could write"
- wrote the war correspondent.
We can read thousands of comments saying goodbye and expressing condolences to the family, singer Dani Torres, for example, writes that he was shaken by the disappearance of the climber and sympathizes with the family, "I wish I could have known him", said the musician who became known by Megastar.
His soul is surely up there, his body will rest forever in the depths. He was a tragic hero for whom a country worried and hoped. Unfortunately, luck turned away from him, and the expected miracle did not happen
- writes another commenter. Among those saying goodbye to the climber, several also emphasize the fantastic performance of the Sherpas.
Mountaineer Emil Neszmélyi, who visited the top of the world for the first time in 2016, wrote heartbreaking lines about his friend's disappearance:
Hi Solid! I don't know what to write now, I didn't know before. It seemed that this would also be successful, like when you climbed K2, as the first Hungarian. Do you remember when we were daydreaming at Everest Base Camp a year ago? Then I managed Everest, and you managed Lhoce. You managed without a bottle, which few people can do, and which everyone admired. You always encouraged me because of my asthma. I remember you gave me csabai, a lot, because I couldn't stand the local food anymore. But it was good to eat home after so many weeks! I can still see you slicing me with your characteristic care. I can still taste it in my mouth. These little things are important. We talked a lot about the family and the plans for this year. Me about the South Pole expedition, and you knew you were going back to Everest. Now you are up there, forever, somewhere near the highest peak, and the cold doesn't matter anymore. You remember? I made a promise just in case… I will. You never said bad things about anyone, you never hurt anyone. They say and write a lot of things that we are not interested in. Unless they're trying to hurt someone. I won't let that happen... just like I promised. And thank you for your efforts. I'm with you, my sports partner!
He gave his last sign of life on Wednesday
Suhajda Szilárd last gave a sign of life via satellite phone on Wednesday morning, from an altitude of roughly 8,700 meters: she said she could reach the summit in three to four hours. The last signal from his tracker came at the height of the Hillary steps, this was the last location from which his position could still be sensed.
After a long search, news finally arrived on Thursday evening that members of another expedition had found him at the Hillary Steps, at an altitude of 8,780 meters, but were unable to help him. After that, they contacted the Nepali agency providing the base camp background, and a helicopter and three Sherpas went to search for Suhajda, unfortunately to no avail.
