Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomaios I of Constantinople will visit Hungary in September at the invitation of the Archabbey of Pannonhalm, the archabbey announced.
Bartolomaios will be the keynote speaker at the international ecumenical conference on peace on September 22 in Pannonhalma.
The focus of the patriarch's five-day visit is ecumenical and interreligious dialogue and peace.
During his stay in Hungary, the church leader visits the Benedictines of Bakonybél, and then conducts a divine liturgy in Pannonhalma.
In Budapest, he will meet with representatives of social and political life, as well as give a presentation at the joint ecumenical and interreligious conference of Pázmány Péter Catholic University and the National University of Public Service, the announcement reads.
The patriarch last visited Hungary in September 2021, when he participated in the International Eucharistic Congress.
Barolomaios has been at the head of the Universal Patriarchate since 1991, as the patriarch enjoying priority of honor among the Orthodox church leaders.
