The probability that the former mayor of Budapest will enter the ring in next year's municipal elections is negligible, and according to him, three people would be most surprised by such a move: his wife, then Viktor Orbán, and finally himself.

According to István Tarlós, a mayor also has a political role, he can help the government or the prime minister, as he can express himself more freely, for example abroad.

"There are those who abuse this and work against their country, and there are also those who try to serve the good of Hungary, so I would like to classify myself as one of the latter," he told hirado.hu, but he pointed out that the main task of the mayor is to operation, operation and development of the city.

In relation to the fact that the reigning mayor, Gergely Karácsony, promised green urban development, Tarlós stated that green policy has been distorted all over the world.

"They confuse environmental protection with climate protection, even though the two are not the same. Gergely Karácsony certainly has the skills for many things, but the mayor's position, especially the mayor's position, is perhaps not the area where these skills would show themselves spectacularly".

According to Tarlós, cities with nearly two million people cannot be declared completely nature conservation areas.

"There is car traffic in New York, Paris too, I dare not mention Eastern cities now, because the adoration of the East has turned into hatred of the East by the politicians pursuing chameleon politics. Even in the western big cities, they did not eradicate car traffic, only from certain places of the city, but they created the preconditions for this".

"The chief landscape architect should not be worrying about where to pour the concrete, but rather what Margaret Island looks like now. You should look at the Rose Garden now and remember what it was like in our time. At that time, the hateful part of the opposition media was constantly complaining about the big musical fountain, even though people were standing there in droves," Tarlós emphasized.

In connection with the fact that Budapest's city administration constantly complains about the lack of money, the former mayor stated: it is an art to lie so that it seems that they are not lying, but they either exaggerate, misrepresent, or spread the opposite of reality in the public opinion.

"Professionally, what is going on in the capital in terms of traffic is priceless. Then they refer to their own study plan (for example BKK) and the surveys of Gergely Karácsony's former boss and mentor. to ask fourteen-year-old children whether there should be car traffic on the Lánchíd, to close the quay, to force traffic into the closed streets and further worsen the air there, to announce a "residents' meeting" with misleading questions, is simply ridiculous".

Tarlós also drew attention to the fact that after the completion of the Lánchíd, the Petőfi bridge and the Árpád bridge must be closed for several years due to renovation. "These are two high-capacity bridges. If the Chain Bridge doesn't work either, there will be chaotic conditions!".

The former mayor also has an opinion on the worship of foreigners. "Unfortunately, a certain proportion of our people are like this, we are used to it from communist times. Many of them are active in the political and journalistic spheres, and cannot help but gasp from the pressure to comply. This is terribly wrong, servile behavior. Very little is written about what goes on in the streets of Paris, Berlin, and Gothenburg. Of course, this does not mean that good examples cannot be adopted".

In his view, his former deputy, Alexandra Szentkirályi, is the one who would be able to gather the most votes in next year's mayoral election.
