We are in the midst of a displacement epidemic. Those who were born here say that you can't even recognize the country, it's going downhill so rapidly.

“While I'm sorting my belongings to fit into a few suitcases, I watch a Youtube video for 'fun' where an engineer who moved here 3 years ago talks about WHY people shouldn't move to Canada. The engineers here also earn more than the average, his wife also works, yet: they have no chance of buying their own home.

Ever-rising taxes and prices eat up even higher-than-average incomes, and there is no chance of a normal life.

I look at the comments and I have to realize that we are in the middle of a “displacement epidemic”! Those who were born here say that you can't even recognize the country, it's going downhill so rapidly. Some people complain that they have been waiting in line for a year to finally have a family doctor. Others came here with high hopes, went to university, spent their money and in the end only got a minimum wage job.

Many people are preparing to leave the country or have already left.

There were also Hungarians among the contributors who have already moved home or are planning to. A lady from Toronto, who was born in Canada, applied for Hungarian citizenship through her parents, and they moved to Budapest years ago, and they have been living there happily ever since, as she writes.

The saddest comments were those who want to leave but have nowhere to go, or all their money and energy is going into survival and they can't raise enough money to start over somewhere else.

Breaking news: in the next 3 years, Canada plans to welcome one and a half million immigrants.

Of course, there are people who feel very comfortable here. For example, drug users who are supplied with free drugs by the government. Or those attracted to their own sex. Or those who came here with extensive relatives and settled on a particular profession like a mafia. Or the 300-pound aging lady whose hair is dyed a wild purple and who declared that people don't accept her at home.

Based on the comments on the mentioned video and my own experience, I can say that the ground is burning under the feet of those who want to live a predictable, normal life from decent work."
