In addition to moral recognition, the awards also come with monetary rewards, and can be awarded to candidates who respond to social, economic, and political challenges in a practical and pragmatic way, commensurate with the opportunities and necessities of our time.

In extraordinary times, those human values ​​and patriotic deeds become priceless, wrote the Magyar Batthyány Foundation in its press release. In 2019, the Magyar Batthyány Foundation is the organization for the Count Lajos Batthyány and Count Antónia Zichy awards, for which anyone can nominate for the fourth time this year until July 31, 2023.

This year, nominations can already be submitted online. The exact process of the nomination can be viewed on the website www.batthyany.hu The names of the candidates can be sent by e-mail ( [email protected] ) and by post (1016 Budapest, Tigris utca 3.).

The main patron of the awards this year is Zoltán Balog, Reformed bishop, president of the Synod of Pastors. The 8-member independent, professional Jury set up by the Foundation decides on the awardees. The awards will be presented at the Batthyány Mausoleum on October 6, 2023, the national day of mourning for the execution of the Arad Martyrs.

The prizes can be awarded to candidates who provide a practical and pragmatic response to social, economic and political challenges that is commensurate with the opportunities and necessities of our time.

In this way, they strengthen the improvement of the Hungarian nation, Hungary's success and international recognition, the preservation and renewal of farming traditions, the unity of small communities and the family, the enforcement of religious and universal values, and the development of science, culture, art and education. In addition to moral recognition, the awards also come with monetary rewards.

Margit Batthyány-Schmidt, the president of the Foundation, emphasized: 

"This year we celebrate the 175th anniversary of the revolution and freedom struggle of 1848-49. I believe that only those who know the past can see the future. In the long 19th century, Europe was in flames several times and this should be a warning sign for all of us today. That is why I attach even greater importance to this year's nomination of the awardees and I am confident that together we will find those candidates who will significantly contribute to the preservation of our social peace!"

In 2023, as in previous years, the Foundation set up an independent professional Jury to select the awardees, whose members are:
