Fewer people know the wonderful landscapes of Torockószentgyörgy than those of Torockó. Although the latter is tucked between a line of rocks, it is more popular than the neighboring village. In order to encourage tourists to visit the neighboring settlement, which has a wide border and a 13th-century castle ruins, the National Restoration Plan will finance the renovation of eight traditional houses, which can attract visitors and function as museums and workplaces, and later even as accommodation - we found out From Mayor Szilárd Deák Székely.
The houses will be renovated for a total of 480,000 euros.
Szilárd Deák Székely, the mayor of Torockó, said that houses older than 80 years could apply if their land registration was in order. They managed to nominate eight such houses, including ones that are one hundred, one hundred and twenty, and one hundred and thirty years old. The gates and church properties of deep-rooted Torockószentgyörgy residents, whose owners want to save the heritage of their ancestors from the past.
"After the renovation, they must primarily be open and accessible from a tourist point of view. So the goal is to put up signs with written material, digital material, to promote the past and traditional houses"
- he shared the conditions agreed in the contract, one of the key points of which is that they will not operate commercial activities in the properties for 5 years, nor can they sell them.

At the same time, he emphasized that they are extremely proud of the results achieved, because by renovating the houses, the settlement and the village are winning back young families. The majority of them would move into the authentic house, and since they undertook to promote it, they would provide job opportunities for the locals, not to mention that, in addition to farming, the people of Torockószentgyörgy could also open up to tourism and hospitality.
