More than four thousand children with a difficult fate can spend their holidays with their peers and parents in Caritász camps.

According to Katolikus Caritász, the camps - which include boarding, daycare, thematic and craft camps - are waiting for those who want to vacation in Balaton resorts, parishes or other community accommodation.

One-week camps are free for children. The volunteers of Karitász put together a colorful program in each camp with excursions, handicrafts, playful contests and, where possible, going to the beach.

The national center of Karitász operates a camp in Balatonakalin, which was solemnly blessed and opened by Székesfehérvár county bishop Antal Spányi, the president of Catholic Caritász, on June 16. The event was also attended by Anita Herczegh, the goodwill ambassador of Catholic Charities and Klaus Höhn, the goodwill ambassador of Catholic Charities in Germany.

At the ceremonial opening, Gábor Écsy, the national director of Katolikus Karitász, spoke about the fact that children from families living in difficult situations, often in extreme poverty, as well as children and young people with disabilities can participate in their camps. For many of them, this is the only vacation option, he noted.

Karitász announced: it is possible to contribute 500 forints per call to the donation line 1356, and it is also possible to donate online at karitasz.hu.
