The party leadership made it clear that a database was needed. And the Gyurcsánys are dictating a strong pace, and since there is still nothing to say, some kind of supplementary action is needed anyway - Ervin Nagy's writing.

Summer has arrived, and the opposition parties have started collecting signatures. They ask the activists to spend time on the patch instead of resting on the Balaton. Forty degrees. My brain!

Back in the spring, LMP collected supporter signatures against the battery factories - albeit with moderate success, but with credible commitment and, of course, good press behind them. Then Gergely Karácsony tried to establish direct contact with the people of Budapest with the so-called residents' assembly. Of course, this does not bring too much to the otherwise insignificant Dialogue. And the MSZP tried to look for sympathizers online in order to protect the promenade named after Gyula Horn. According to each person's identity and orientation. The LMP on the green question, the Dialogue on the capital issue (there are none anywhere else anyway), and the socialists on the praise of puffy-faced communists... Apparently, they have already found at least a thousand people who are excited by this question! This many people, given the situation of the MSZP, is not such a big failure!

Then Ferenc Gyurcsány arrived and announced the somewhat unusual "inflation academy", the function of which is still not entirely clear. The case of the shadow government died out, so something new was needed anyway, and this is also excellent for data collection. In any case - as always - this time the DK found the issue that worries people the most - the credibility of the Gyurcsánys on this topic is a different matter.

Encouraged by all this (or terrified of falling behind), Momentum and Jobbik also started collecting signatures. The former is against the teacher-career model, the latter is for fair wages. An amazingly rich imagination was needed for this performance!

Although it is no coincidence that inflation has never stopped due to collecting signatures, nor have companies raised wages for similar reasons, it is nevertheless clear that they were consciously looking for "hit topics" on the left. So did Momentum, although their choice was a bit late. (It's amazing how much they can't thematize, they just run after cases.)

Of course, the goal of signature collections is not "just" the political agenda. Army and field inspection at the same time, and of course data collection. The parties are curious about how embedded they are in society, how mobile their network is, and what the willingness of the electorate is. They want to assess the balance of power before next year's elections. But since they will probably run separately in the European Parliament voting, everyone needs their own address list, contact list, and database containing opposition voters. (If they got together, they wouldn't even give each other theirs.)

This led to the ridiculous situation where everyone on the left is collecting signatures.

But just in summer? So when everyone wants to go on vacation and relax? When is it better to leave people alone? This is not fair to the activists. How much better would it be to have an ice cream on the shores of Lake Balaton or a beer on the beach than to call people rushing to work in the stuffy patch of Széll Kálmán tér, or in the airless Blaha Lujza tér subway.

But what can be done? No fairy tale! The party leadership made it clear that a database was needed. The Gyurcsánys are dictating a strong pace, and since there is still nothing to say, some additional action is needed anyway.

I only feel sorry for the party members standing on the streets! Someone get them an ice cream!
