The sun was still resting below the horizon when the men already gathered at the border of Csíkszentkirály for the hayride organized early on Saturday morning.
The tool needs beating and chastisement, order needs drying when it is cut, rest for the tired, and fun for those who are in a good mood.
About half a hundred people gathered at the foot of the Hargita in a picturesque wild flower field to revive the tradition of working together. There was no shortage of fun and things to do.
Before sunrise, the men and young men of Csíkszentkirály gathered, and even came from neighboring settlements to take part in the hayride. They had to get up very early, but there were even some who didn't even go to bed after the Friday evening dance.
However, the work did not drink the juice of this, when it was necessary, everyone grabbed the scythe and got in order.
Just after five o'clock in the morning, about half a hundred people lined up on the hillside. In order to have a better harmony, the more cheerful ones started playing one note at a time, and then the others joined in as well. There were no complaints about the atmosphere, nor the scenery. The morning lights and the fog that lingered in the valleys created a perfect visual harmony next to the screeching sound of the mowed main.
The green grass cutters sharpened their tools with a whetstone, but we also learned that if the mower is older or drier, it is certainly not enough to grind the blade well. By the time the sun came out from behind the mountains, half of the mowers were already lying in neat order, and the mowers stopped more and more often for a cheerful rest and a toast.
We found Senator Tánczos Barna, a former Minister of Environmental Protection, among the slurs, who was pulling the same as the others. He also jokingly remarked: after his ministerial work, he had to look for a new profession.
It was very difficult to avoid the Székely hospitality: everyone who was there had one, two, three, or even several cups of good pálinka. The morning sun's rays found only the stoners walking at the end of their work on the hillside.
After the dancing party on Friday night and the joint work on Saturday morning, it was a good feeling to stop and acknowledge: the goal was accomplished, and not only the work was done, but also a great community.
