It has been leaked that the plan of the European Union's new financial base, according to which they would finance a part of the military training and equipment purchases of the Ukrainians for at least four years - the news was written by Politico from reliable internal sources . They add:
the money from the 20 billion euro fund would not go directly to Kiev, but would cover the costs of countries that provide arms and training to the Ukrainians.
Politico emphasizes: the amount is much larger than what the bloc has spent for similar purposes so far. They reminded me that
the union has so far spent 4 billion euros to support the countries supporting Ukraine, this amount would be increased to five times in the new fund.
The paper emphasizes that the creation of the fund is a serious, sharp change in the policy of the European Union up to now: the union described itself as a "peace project". It is quite amazing that the arming of Ukraine is planned to be carried out through a system called the "European Peace Mechanism". And that's not all:
in addition to military assistance, the European Union would also provide Ukraine with an additional 50 billion euros for non-military expenses.
