Diversity leaders are leaving as corporate priorities shift.

“Two years ago, diversity managers were the hottest prospects for leadership positions. They now increasingly feel that they are being pushed into the background. Companies such as Netflix, Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery have recently announced the departure of senior "diversity, equity and inclusion" executives.

Thousands of diversity-focused workers have been laid off since last year, and some companies are scaling back their racial justice commitments.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, or DEI, positions have come under fire after many companies began to review their leadership positions during the tech sector's realignment last fall. Some diversity leaders say their jobs are under increased scrutiny since the Supreme Court struck down affirmative action measures in college admissions, and companies are bracing for potential legal challenges. DEI work has also become a political target."
