Not a single Hungarian is in danger in the forest fire-ravaged Rhodes, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, responsible for bilateral relations, said on his social media page on Sunday.
Tamás Menczer wrote: currently, the Hungarian embassy in Athens is in contact with 110 Hungarians, they have registered for consular protection. Based on information from travel agencies, the total number of Hungarians can be roughly estimated at around 400, he added.
According to Menczer, based on the current information, 91 Hungarians will be affected by the evacuation, but the number is constantly changing. The embassy provides Hungarians with all available information.
According to the Greek authorities, evacuation buses can reach the airport from all parts of the island, and the authorities will provide a transfer to anyone who wants to leave the island. In addition, ferry and boat traffic to Athens is also uninterrupted.
