The Magyarok Kenyere - 15 million grains of wheat was held in Nyárádszereda on Friday, as a prominent program of the Nyárádmente Festival.
In addition to the joy of donating, farmers can also experience the importance of belonging and joint assistance, István Becze, president of the Székely Farmers' Association, Maszol
Every year, the gathering ceremony is organized at a different location in different regions of Székelyföld, and this year Nyárádszereda was chosen, said the Székelyföld coordinator of the Carpathian Basin fund-raising movement called Magyarok Kenyere - 15 million grains of wheat István Becze, the president of the Association of Székely Farmers' Associations, said that the local residents welcomed the initiative with an open heart and stood together as one person to organize the celebration.
"Farmers from Háromszék and Hargita and Maros counties came here from everywhere, we brought the wheat here and mixed it together. In addition to the fact that this is a charity action, a charity program called the Bread of Hungarians, we also express that we think together, work together and try to carry out developments together" -
said István Becze.
He added that it is good to see that there is harmony in this common thinking and action.
"The farmers of Székelyföld are very active participants in the Magyarok Kenyere program, we are able to collect a very significant amount of produce, and not only wheat, but also buckwheat, vegetables, all kinds of produce that sell well at foundations performing social tasks, children's homes and homes for the elderly"
explained István Becze. He informed that, in addition to joint assistance, the positive outcome of the meeting is that they can talk, exchange experiences, develop professionally, and feel that they can count on each other.
"For our sake, the wheat collection is important to the people of Nyáradszereda and those of Nyárad, because last year we held the Székelyföld wheat consecration here. (…) We asked God for help to have a good harvest, which was not good last year, but this year there was a better harvest, and this whole story is so round that if the wheat consecration was here, then the wheat gathering should be here as well. We managed to negotiate with colleagues from Székelyföld in such a way that we can close this circle here, so the story is complete"
- explained Sándor Tóth, mayor of Nyárádszereda.
The mayor stated that he gladly offered the location and the Summer Vacation Festival to organize the program here and as part of this event, which became one of the most important elements of the local festival.
By the way, several people spoke at the wheat pouring ceremony held on Friday. In addition to Mayor Sándor Tóth, István Becze thanked everyone for their contribution and the work of the local organizers, as well as for accepting the event and providing a worthy venue and conditions.
In his speech, Kovászna County Member of Parliament Csaba Könczei emphasized that the Bread of Hungarians is "not a simple aid program", because it has become a traditional and a holiday, a holiday for the farmers of the Carpathian Basin, when they can donate the "crop produced with sweat" to their brothers and sisters in need, and these donations reach where they are really needed, said the representative.
Ferenc Péter, chairman of the Maros County Council, emphasized:
"the wheat gathering is clearly a celebration of togetherness. It is about the fact that we are able to achieve our goals by keeping our forces in the same direction".
As he said, the event is about what is most needed in Nyárádment and in the whole of Székelyföld, the cohesive team.
"The Hungarian farmers in Transylvania set an example of this, we must learn from this, we must also put this cooperation into practice"
- said the council president, who quoted the detail from the admonitions of the Transylvanian prince István Bocskai in his will, urging mutual respect and esteem:
"...I leave it and write, lovingly urging all our followers in Transylvania and Hungary to come to a beautiful agreement between themselves. For brotherly love for the people of Transylvania, so that they will not be separated from Hungary even if they are under another principality. The Hungarians, so that the Transylvanians are not pushed away from them, should be considered as his brothers, and he as their blood, their member..."
According to Ferenc Péter, the Hungarian community can only be strong today if its members pay attention to each other, listen and help each other.
"We can stay on the path set by Bocskai if we formulate common goals and act together to achieve them"
- said the chairman of the Maros county council.
István Jakab, the vice-president of the Hungarian Parliament and the president of the Association of Hungarian Farmers' Unions and Farmers (MAGOSZ), recalled in Nyárádszereda that the Bread of Hungarians program was launched for the thirteenth year. "Starting from a small region, first in the mother country, then by uniting the Hungarian farmers of the entire Carpathian basin and in the diaspora, this event is organized," said István Jakab.
The president of MAGOSZ stated: the initiative greatly contributes to the preservation of our past, since by reviving our traditions, preserving our values and passing them on to the younger generations
"a new kind of value creation, a promise from the present to the future that yes, Hungarianness will remain, endure, unite, and has and will always have the strength to become a truly strong nation".
Although the farmers were hit by a terrible drought last year, about a thousand tons of grain were collected, and based on the indications so far, this amount will be well exceeded, István Jakab informed.
Hargita County Council President Csaba Borboly, who had just arrived at the ceremony in Nýárádszereda, led straight to the stage. Similarly to the speakers before him, he highlighted the importance of the Magyarok Kenyere program and its community-building power.
The participants then went to the grain bin in order, symbolically pouring half a bag of wheat into it, and the rest of the donations will be collected by the producers.
After the blessing of the pastors of the historic Hungarian churches, the organizers presented the donors with a fresh loaf of bread tied with a ribbon in the national color, who thanked the farmers and guests for their hospitality.
