I write the following lines not to bring tears to the eyes of the readers or to make German citizens feel sorry for them, but only so that the supporters of the Hungarian opposition who accuse the Hungarian government of immigration policy of xenophobia will finally think about what would have happened if the Orbán government had allowed the unrestricted influx of migrants into our country.
I will tell you what would have happened: the same thing we see in Germany today. In fact...
Since Hungary would have been (and would still be) the migrants so-called "first receiving country", so until the European distributions take place - so who knows how long - they would be stuck in Hungary.
Let's see what the German court documents reveal about the rapes committed by migrants!
New Year's Eve in Cologne is already on everyone's lips, when in 2015, right in front of the famous cathedral of Christianity, young migrants attacked German women celebrating there en masse. Let's leave it.
Let's jump forward four years and see what happened on the night of October 31, 2019, which was later decided by the Ulm provincial court. According to the court verdict of March 15, 2021, Lina Peters boarded the bus to Illerkirchberg with the young men around 10:45 p.m. The "chill house" that the men had told him about and to which he had been invited was actually, as he later found out, a dilapidated accommodation for asylum seekers in the Beutelreusch district. There, the already drunk girl was made to drink a glass of drug-laced water, and finally that night three men forced her to have sexual intercourse; she was raped five times.
According to the Neue Züricher Zeitung, Lina Peters is just one of the thousands (!) of women who have been victims of gang rape in Germany in recent years.
In 2020, the regional court in Freiburg sentenced eight men who cheated on a woman partying in a disco and then raped her in a bush for more than two hours.
In Leer, East Frisia, in 2021, three men lured a 16-year-old girl into their apartment, where they first beat her up and then raped her several times. At the same time, in Mallorca, five men from Germany were recently arrested for raping an 18-year-old girl. The Spanish newspapers spoke of the brutal perpetrators as "German" youths, while after a short silence the German media, including Bild, for example, reported - admittedly, cautiously - that the arrested had a migration background.
The question of how much the phenomenon of sexual violence has to do with migration still divides the camp of judges in Germany today. While right-wing politicians tend to attribute the violence exclusively to foreigners, namely asylum seekers, the left tries to deny any such connection.
The Greens go even further in this regard, the state-supported Amadeu Antonio Foundation, which has close ties to the party, writes:
"There is hardly another slogan as successful as the tale that women no longer feel safe in Germany because 'so many foreign men are coming here'..."
According to them, this can be done by the media, which pays much more attention to crimes committed by non-Germans. In short, it is a coincidence that the perpetrators of Leer, Freiburg and Illerkirchberg mainly came from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.
According to police statistics, the number of reported rapes, sexual assaults and serious assaults has increased markedly in recent years. While 9.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants were registered in 2013, last year this value was already 14.1. At the same time, 37 percent of the approximately 10,000 suspects were foreigners. However, this is also the case in Switzerland, where the number of registered rapes has risen steadily in recent years, from 532 to 867 in 2015.
Since, according to the Neue Züricher Zeitung article, "gang rape" is not a crime, there is no data on it in German police and crime statistics. Therefore, they cannot be researched.
That is why the AfD had to address a specific question to the government this May, and from the answer we learned that 789 cases that could be classified as "gang rape" were registered last year - more than at any time in recent years. That is, two a day.
65 percent of the suspects were known to the police, and the proportion of foreigners was around 50 percent. Of the latter, 471 were already in Germany, the rest were refugees from Syria (72), Afghanistan (52), Iraq (51) and Turkey (35).
And it is precisely these countries that - according to Frank Urbaniok, a German-Swiss psychiatrist - have been leading the statistics for years. The psychiatrist, in his study written in 2020 - which was also quoted by the Neue Züricher Zeitung on July 22, 2023 - emphasized that the
Iraqis, Syrians, Moroccans, Pakistanis, Somalis, Afghans and Algerians are massively overrepresented in sexual crimes, in some cases with a crime rate exceeding 1000 percent (!) compared to the German population.
Despite the frightening numbers, there are still those in Germany who try to refine the statistical data citing "complex reasons", such as the social circumstances of the perpetrators, poverty, hopelessness, and even the ridiculous reason that the proportion of young men among refugees is higher , like the rest of the population.
According to Urbaniok, however, this is just an attempt by politicians and the mainstream media to cover up the reality. It is against them that Vietnamese migrants living in particularly difficult social conditions do not appear in the statistics at all. What's more, the psychiatrist adds that the statistics would probably be much worse if the percentage of migrants after their naturalization were added to the data. They automatically "slip" into the group of German criminals, which not only distorts the statistics, but also disappears from the eyes of the investigators.
The most exciting question is what actually drives rape?
It has been noticed in the past that migrant offenders are not at all included in the statistics of pedophile crimes or those with a homosexual motive. Crimes of this type are typically not committed. (There are exceptions, such as the case of the 10-year-old Austrian boy who was raped by an Iraqi migrant in a Vienna swimming pool in December 2015 - ed.)
The skyrocketing number of sexual crimes is to be found in the religious and cultural difference in Muslim men's perception of women, which is completely different from the European perception.
However, it is worth noting that, contrary to popular belief, Muslim women do not wear veils or shawls out of compulsion, but of their own free will. They do this on the one hand out of religious conviction – a message to outsiders – and on the other hand they signal to men that they do not want their approach. This is what the Koran prescribes. According to the teachings of their religion, it is recommended for women to wear a veil or a shawl so that the Muslim woman becomes recognizable and is not harassed by foreign men. The Koran forbids men to touch these women, they must even cover their eyes when they approach them. But this only applies to women who dress according to the Qur'an.
It has happened several times that I could not look at the scalp, the chest, or even the neck of my Muslim female patients who entered my office in a chador or hijab - let alone feel them for the sake of diagnosis! – without the husband or the father, i.e. a male member of the family, being present.
According to migration researcher Ruud Koopmans, the perpetrators of sexual violence mostly come from strongly patriarchal, Islamic countries where the social and religious perception of women is completely different from what is customary in Europe, especially regarding sexual relations with them.
Women who do not wear a headscarf and whose clothes are not closed up to the neck can be touched because they are considered prostitutes, i.e. "free wild prey"
- writes the Neue Züricher Zeitung, quoting Koopmans' opinion.
It follows that as a result of their social and religious norms for these young migrants
"gang rape is not a sexual crime committed in secret, but a legitimate possibility..." continues the quoted article, "and thus the perpetrators do not have a bad conscience because their behavior is legitimized by the norms of the group".
The examples clearly show that the integration of migrants, especially those who arrived after 2015, has been unsuccessful to this day, which also highlights the hopelessness of the state's efforts in this direction, especially regarding the resolution of cultural differences and religious norms.
It is really worth seriously thinking about what would have happened in Hungary if the same tragedies and violent crimes happened in our country, or more precisely, they happened in our country.
What would have happened if our government had thought differently and had not built - in time - the southern border fence, or had not created the protective legal environment?
Based on the ratio of migrants to the population of our country, and comparing this with data on the proportions in Germany, it would have resulted in a greater number of crimes than there.
These refugees - more than a million of them - should have first received "accommodation" in Hungary before (if at all) they could travel on to the desired country.
Do the critics of the Hungarian government really think that they would have changed the social and religious customs they brought with them for this time - or forever according to the quotas - for our sake?
