The extraordinary session of the Parliament on Monday was unable to reach a decision, as the representatives of the ruling party did not participate in it, so only the opposition members-in-law made their speeches before the agenda. At the same time, it is no coincidence that many of the left-wing representatives who initiated it did not go to the meeting.
The extraordinary meeting was initiated by Momentum after it was revealed at the NATO summit in Vilnius in July that Turkey agreed to Sweden becoming a member of the military organization. The convening of the meeting was supported by the representative group of DK, MSZP, Jobbik, Párbeszéd and LMP, as well as an independent representative, and in addition to the bill on Sweden's NATO accession, they requested the addition of five other proposals initiated by the opposition to the agenda. The proposal on Sweden's NATO accession has already been discussed by the Parliament, only the final vote remains - which is expected to take place in the autumn session of the parliament.
Known: Gergely Gulyás, the Minister in charge of the Prime Minister's Office, said in the latest Government Information that the Fidesz faction will not participate in Monday's session of the Parliament, as the Parliament will have a regular session and there is no reason for an emergency.
Before the lack of a quorum was established, the seven opposition factions used the opportunity to speak before the agenda. In his speech, Máté Kanász-Nagy, the member of parliament of the LMP, believed that tens of thousands of foreign guest workers are being settled in the country. The left-wing politician repeated the usual opposition opinion that there is no need for battery factories in Hungary. On behalf of Párbeszéd, Bence Tordai also opposed the building of battery factories, as he believes that our country does not have the capabilities for this. According to the politician of the Green Party, which has immense support, the government should accept the proposals of the opposition.
- Momentum and its left-liberal allies were ordered by their bosses to talk about Sweden's NATO accession. We should be grateful for the many trainings they received in America - said László Toroczkai, the president of Mi Hazánk, before the agenda. Brenner Koloman, the representative of Jobbik, claimed in his speech that there is a shortage of teachers in our country, and he talked about the fact that a normal government would also give adequate support to universities.
In his speech before the agenda, Imre Komjáthi stated that the MSZP supports Sweden's NATO accession, which, according to him, follows directly from the legacy of Gyula Horn. The representative of the party also spoke about the fact that it has become very difficult for pensioners to make a living, and at the same time urged the lowering of the retirement age and a comprehensive pension reform.
Ferenc Gelencsér objected to the fact that the representatives of the government party did not appear at the meeting, which, according to him, means that the government is not interested in the security of Hungarians. The leader of the Momentum faction claimed that they clearly stated from the first moment that the most important task is to create peace, and therefore, in his opinion, claiming that there are pro-war people in this country is "a moral one-dish".
And László Varju (DK) said: It is Viktor Orbán's fault that Hungary is the only EU and NATO member country that opposes the accession of Sweden, also an EU member, to NATO. According to him, the prime minister is doing this because he is not committed to the Hungarians, but to Vladimir Putin, and the Hungarian delay serves his interests.
