The increase in interest in environmentally friendly products is shown by the fact that the number of products bearing the eco-label is now close to 90 thousand, said Anikó Raisz, the Secretary of State responsible for the environment and circular economy of the Ministry of Technology and Industry, on the Facebook page of the Ministry of Technology and Industry.

The eco-label is a symbol of how a society and economy come together for a better future. The development of environmentally friendly shopping habits encourages manufacturers, service providers and distributors to produce products with good quality and favorable environmental properties, i.e. to develop an environmentally friendly economic structure, the ministry said in its post .

At the event organized on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the existence of the European Union eco-label, Anikó Raisz emphasized: if people see this certification label, they can be sure that the given product complies with environmental protection standards from production to disposal, and that its use is less burdensome on the environment.

The criteria for obtaining the eco-label include aspects such as sustainability, energy saving, reduction of pollutant emissions, product durability, and the exclusion of the use of hazardous substances.

According to the state secretary, the environmental awareness of consumers has been increasing in Hungary in recent years, which has an encouraging effect on manufacturers, distributors and service providers.

He pointed out that the eco-label can be obtained by those manufacturers and companies that want to use the benefits of sustainability to increase efficiency, and in addition, their goal is stable, future-oriented and sustainable business. Because of all this, Anikó Raisz believed that the eco-label is actually an award for achievements in the field of environmental sustainability.

"I am confident that the eco-label will become an important environmental and consumer policy tool in Hungary," said the state secretary, who also noted that their plans include, for example, providing support for the administrative costs necessary to obtain the eco-label.

Géza Róbert Barta, the certification director of the Hermann Ottó Institute Nonprofit Kft., said about the cart pulled by an electric bicycle on the site, the so-called rolling exhibition hall, that it left Brussels in May of this year and arrived in Hungary on Saturday. The purpose of the exhibition is to draw attention to the results of the 30th anniversary and to present the contribution of the eco-label to sustainable consumption decisions.

Those interested in the country can meet the rolling exhibition hall near the landmarks of Budapest, as well as in the settlements of Fonyód, Biatorbágy and Bábolna, which will return to Brussels.

The specialist also touched on the fact that on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the European Union eco-label, with the support of TIM, the Hermann Ottó Intézet Nonprofit Kft. announced the eco-label month for September this year.
