An important deadline is approaching - the Democratic Trade Union of Teachers (PDSZ) wrote in its letter to its members yesterday. The teachers are recommended to resign today at the latest, but they are asked to remain members of the union.
In a letter obtained by Magyar Nemzet, the PDSZ also admits that currently none of the major teachers' unions reaches the 10 percent representativeness threshold.
"On the first of August, you should take your resignation to your employer in person, and then have it delivered there (this means that you ask for a receipt certified by two witnesses). We recommend that you not only do this in person, but also send it by registered mail, and on the other hand, send it by registered mail.
- the Democratic Trade Union of Teachers wrote in its newsletter yesterday. The letter details that in this case the notice period is one month, and the legal relationship will end on August 31st (despite the fact that someone submits the papers on August 1st and requests to be released on that date). "During the notice period, they must be excused from working,
at the same time, you will receive your full monthly salary"
- states the PDSZ in its letter.
According to the union, members who do not wish to continue teaching from September on the basis of the new teacher career law are best off with this procedure.
The PDSZ also offers sample letters to its members, so teachers don't even have to draft their own resignation, they simply fill out a template and can go to their employer.
According to the trade union's legal interpretation, those who would otherwise resign later can "work off" their notice period, so according to their wording, an important deadline has arrived on the first of August.
Finally, the PDSZ asks teachers who decide to leave their jobs to remain members of the union and pay the membership fee.
As they write, based on the legal regulations, if ten percent of the teachers were members of their trade union, they would have the right to consent, opinion and consultation.
The PDSZ, although it methodically hides from the public how many members it has, admits in the letter that
neither they nor the other large trade union, the Teachers' Union (PSZ), currently reach this ten percent representativeness threshold.
In the case of the PSZ, however, this was not always the case, in the last ten years the number of teachers who are members of the trade union fell sharply, which led to the current situation.
In any case, the teachers' unions are not far from topical politicization. Remember, in a joint strike call last year, the PDSZ and the PSZ suggested that their members wear a blue ribbon as a protest, with which the joint left-wing prime ministerial candidate, Péter Márki-Zay, campaigned at the time.
