This year's highlighted theme of the event is related to the Petőfi commemoration year, under the title "I turned to the kitchen" and the essentials of the peasant kitchen are in focus
The Czech Republic will be this year's guest of honor, and folk kitchen utensils will be the main theme of the Crafts Festival, which will be held between August 18 and 20 in Buda Castle.
Those interested can view the portraits of around a thousand Hungarian and foreign artisans on site, and try their handiwork in almost a hundred demonstration workshops.
At the festival, the little ones are welcomed with a children's program, folk children's plays, folk games from the old days, and adults with a fashion show and a dance hall in the Burgrváros part of Buda Castle, on the Tóth Árpád promenade, Táncsics Mihály és Tárnok utca, and from Szentáromság tér to Dísz tér.
This year, Czech artisans will come to the festival in cooperation with the National Folk Art Institute based in Stráznice, in whose workshops visitors can learn about traditional folk crafts, including weaving, blue dyeing, woodworking, embroidery and wool processing.

The masters present kitchen tools that can also be useful accessories for today's modern kitchen, such as pottery products, baking and cooking utensils, home and kitchen textiles, storage containers, as well as household items made of cane, rattan, and matting.
This year, it has been twenty years since Hungary joined the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Convention, which is why communities representing crafts included in the national and representative list of UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage will receive a special appearance at the event.
Among other things, the handicraft traditions of Kalocsa, Matyó and Sárköz, Mohács busós, the living tradition of blue painting and egg writing, Hövej lace, Szeged slippers and gentlemen's embroidery are presented here.
folkTREND will be held again this year! fashion show, in the framework of which the works of designers who, reaching back to our traditional clothing culture, will be seen in the XXI. They create collections of clothing and clothing accessories that meet the needs of the 20th century. This year, it was possible to apply for the call for the fifth time, and the winning works will be displayed on site.
In the musical program, the Tatros Együttes, Sára Tímár and her band, Mónika Lakatos and Romengo, the dance ensembles of the National Heritage Children's and Youth Folk Art Association, the Fitos Dezső Company, and Szalonna and her band will perform on the main stage of Szentáromság tér.
The House of Traditions awaits children at the Fabatka Porta folk playground on Dísz tér with a puppet theater, lap games, storytellers, children's concerts and dance lessons, as well as craft activities. In the area of the castle, ringleaders, stilt walkers and showmen try to create the atmosphere of the fair, and on August 20th they greet St. Stephen's Day and the festival of new bread with a blessing of bread and a parade of craftsmen.
