According to the spokesperson of the National Rescue Service, not a day goes by without its employees complaining about the poles.

When we talk about the interest or point of view of the paramedics, we are practically talking about the interest and point of view of our patients. Of course, not all rescue tasks are life-threatening, but there are cases when every minute, every second counts. Therefore, all factors that pose difficulties and obstacles for the ambulances are worth mentioning - Pál Győrfi responded to the public media after Samu Balogh, the chief of staff responsible for transport policy of the capital city municipality, spoke back to the ambulances who complained about the bike lanes on Üllői út.

According to the spokesperson of the National Rescue Service, not a day goes by without its employees complaining about the poles. According to his words

the work of the ambulances is made difficult by the columns lining the bike lanes on Üllői út: the bike lanes created from the bus lanes are too narrow for the ambulance to travel safely, and the columns also make parking difficult.

The National Ambulance Service indicated in its Facebook post that although the ambulances also support safe cycling in the capital,

however, the newly created bicycle lanes make it very difficult for ambulances to travel.

The bicycle paths created from bus lanes are narrow enough for the ambulance to travel safely, and the poles can even make parking difficult at certain locations. The lifeguards are trying to adapt to the new situation, but this is not always easy, so they ask for the understanding of the road users, said the National Rescue Service.

"There used to be a parking lane in the place shown in the picture, so parked cars occupied the lane practically all the time. It seems that this did not interfere with the communication of the OMSZ before, but now Budapest's first protected bicycle lanes do," wrote Samu Balogh on his Facebook page. Chief of Staff Gergely Karácsony said: "we can only hope that no one will want to drag the ambulances into the campaign. Not even if Pál Győrfi, the spokesman of the OMSZ, previously campaigned for István Tarlós." "Of course, the most important thing is safety, both in terms of saving lives and transportation. I asked my colleagues to contact the staff of the OMSZ so that we can jointly find a solution to any problems that may arise," he said.

The bike lanes created in July on Üllői út cause big traffic jams and are quite dangerous at the same time.

And Metropol showed in a spectacular video how unused the three and a half meter wide bicycle lane is. They also noticed another phenomenon:

almost more motorcyclists than cyclists use the lane. Although this is also prohibited and dangerous according to the KRESZ.
