A lot of bad things have been said about the effects of various gadgets, but now it turns out that the device can have a serious impact on relationships, without which many people can no longer imagine their lives.

"Smartphones have caused more upheaval than anything else I've seen in my career," said a Canadian couples therapist.

A new study has confirmed the previous hypothesis that spouses who use their phones 24/7 are more likely to feel dissatisfied in their marriages. The more they scroll, the less time they have for each other, CNE informed. Andrew Sofin also spoke about the topic, and according to him, the biggest change he sees in relationships is the smartphone.

They caused more upsets than anything else I've seen in my career, Sofin said.

American research confirmed the expert's observations, as it was found that couples who spend too much time on their phones are more worried about divorce than those who spend less time on the screen.

Among married couples where one partner thinks the other uses their phone too much, only 60 percent say they are happy in their marriage.

Among those for whom this is not a problem, the same proportion is already 81 percent.
