Dollar media tried to win constituencies with ten million ads, but the result is familiar to all of us: the continuous attack of Fidesz was doomed to failure.
More dollars rolled into the constituencies where the dollar left expected sharper competition in the 2022 election campaign. From the four-billion-dollar support from abroad, he also came to the conclusion that the dollar media is trying to influence the voters with greater force where they think there was a chance for a left-wing coalition. In Miskolc and Pécs, for example, tens of millions were spent on advertising articles.
As soon as the rainbow coalition's chances of winning a mandate seemed to disappear, the EzaLényeg media empire pushed the campaign of each candidate of the rainbow coalition with huge sums of money in several settlements considered to be left-wing strongholds, such as Pécs and Miskolc.
For example, the family of newspapers in Miskolc, which operates 81 local pages, most of them expiring portals, received no less than HUF 11.5 million, of which 1,463 contents were advertised. HUF 9.2 million were earmarked for the Pécs edition of EzaLényeg, of which HUF 1,976 were promoted on Facebook.
However, out of tens of millions, partly of foreign origin, they managed to obtain only a few mandates in the battlefield constituencies, and even those with a narrow majority.
Thus, for example, Tamás Mellár (Párbeszéd) ran with a difference of only 1,153 votes against 51,597 valid votes, and the victory of Ágnes Kunhalmi (MSZP) in Pestszentlőrince was even closer. The XVIII. in the district, the local EzaLényeg spent more than HUF 7.5 million campaigning in recent years alongside Kunhalmi and Ferenc Gyurcsány's local man, Sándor Szaniszló.
In addition to the fact that the content advertised at the end of March and beginning of April last year campaigned for the local left-wing candidates, they almost exclusively attacked the Fidesz candidates. After the April 3 election, the EzaLényeg newspaper family did not advertise at all, including in Miskolc and Pécs, for example.
Oraculum 2020 Kft., which is behind the EzaLényeg media empire, received nearly two billion forints from abroad, from the Korányi organization called Action for Democracy and from an obscure Swiss foundation.
According to Magyar Nemzet, between 2019 and April 3, 2022, the EzaLényeg media empire advertised its content to major American technology companies for roughly three-quarters of a billion forints.
