The secret of a long life is to get up every morning - says Ferenc Deák, Aunt Ilonka, whose birthday the Prime Minister also congratulated.
Ferenc Deák, aunt Ilonka, who lives in Andornaktálya, was greeted on Saturday morning on the occasion of her 100th birthday. The mayor of the settlement interpreted the good wishes of himself, the municipality and the people of the village, and then read the Prime Minister's festive greetings. On the other hand, Aunt Ilonka, who was apparently in good health, welcomed Viktor Orbán "from Andornak".
Zsolt Barczi, mayor of Andornaktálya, handed over the Hungarian government's commemorative card signed by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to aunt Ilonka, who turned 100 on August 18.
"This commemorative page is meant to express our respect and gratitude for our elderly citizens. On this festive occasion, I wish you good health and a happy life!"
the village leader read the text of the memorial page.
Thank you very much! And I welcome the Prime Minister from here
- responded to the greeting, Ferenc Deák, who revealed during the conversation that from the family characterized by the name Deák - out of four brothers - she is the only one left. And two of his three cousins who are still alive could even come here now.
Aunt Ilonka said that during her long life she had a lot of good memories, but there were also bad ones, luckily there were more good ones. Humans are such that I only remember the beautiful - he thought.
I don't think about what was wrong. My children surrounded me, I was very good with them, and with the whole family, whom I loved to keep together. One of my children was a boy, he died more than 10 years ago, he served as a military officer, his name was Péter Deák and unfortunately he died of lung cancer at the age of 63. My daughter Évi is now - I correct her, because she is 70 plus - seventy years old. They have grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren, I will eat their hearts out! Well, two of them. But there should be more, at least eight, because there are so many families who could use it!
We also asked about his life outside the family. According to the celebrant's answer, he was very good with everyone, as we see them here together at the festive table, it was always this way: they were the center.
We are from the Alföld otherwise, we don't belong here, but we had to come here from Mezőtúr because my son needed a change of air due to his asthma, he revealed.
We also asked about the "rumor" according to which aunt Ilonka met Pál Jávor, Zita Szeleczki and other celebrities in the forties.
There were three years of my youth that could not be replaced. In 1942, when I moved in with an artist-radio-design engineer couple from Budapest, their home was the center of the acting world at that time. He visited the family - where I worked and who treated me as a family member - among others Pál Jávor, Zita Szeleczki, Margit Lukács, Katalin Karádi. There were very big nights there - aunt Ilonka recalled what happened 80 years ago today.
He also revealed that they came to Andornaktálya in 1955, when his son started attending school. He was a sophomore in high school when his asthma ended.
We built this house in 1980, my daughter got married, my son got married, there were two of us left. That's when I retired from Finommechanikai Művek. We produced medical items in the Eger plant on Kertész út. We worked with plastic, and I can't put it together badly, because the plastic, as it was absorbed into my body, broke out my skin. Like a freckle, I had blood stains on me. I reached retirement age, I didn't want to retire yet, but that's why I had to - said Ferenc Deák.
He added: his retirement years were spent here and he kept his family together. Here were his grandchildren, here were Christmases, name days, everything. Because this was the house with a garden.
And when we asked him the routine question - "What is the secret to a long life?" –, we received a completely unusual answer:
Alas, I don't know what the secret of long life is. One of them, my uncle even told me that year: the secret of a long life is to get up every morning.
