One expectant mother died due to negligence, another didn't even know she was pregnant - and even worse, the doctors didn't know either. How can all this happen?

One's eyes often widen when browsing domestic news. Well, of course, it's no different in relation to foreign news lately, but in the case of domestic news, our eyes are turned differently.

Here is, for example, the latest such news: a woman presents to the Târgu Jiu county hospital with lower abdominal pain, a hernia is diagnosed,

then, during the operation, it turns out that the woman is 9 months pregnant and that labor has already started.

How can doctors look so deeply into such a banal matter - the question may arise for many. And quite rightly so, since a child is not a small thing that can skillfully hide behind a hernia. (As it turned out, the lady really did have a hernia.) But let's also take into account that the new mother herself was completely unaware that she was pregnant. In the past 9 months, he hasn't had a single examination, not even a visit to his family doctor.

Thus, a lot of questions arise in connection with the case

Of course, the doctors involved in the case must be held accountable, the case must be investigated, since it would still be their task to find a child behind the hernia with their medical diploma in their pocket. All the more so because a few days earlier a much more shocking case had happened in Botoşani: a 26-year-old pregnant woman referred with vaginal bleeding and severe pain in the lower abdomen and lower back had to die because

because he did not receive any care for seven hours.

The responsibility of the doctors here can hardly be relativized: no matter how bad the conditions, no matter how little money they perform the work, even instead of several people, it is hardly forgivable if they passively watch a young creature - who, moreover, really begged for help - suffer in agony.

And then, a few days later, here is another case, which blows the fuse across the country:

doctors confuse a child with a hernia.

Of course, the new mother may have noticed that her body has not been behaving the way it used to for quite some time, yet she didn't get herself checked, she didn't even suspect it.

What is the reason of this?

Why do we live in a society where many people simply do not care enough about their own health to do anything for it, and where the unpreparedness/carelessness of our doctors can lead to such tragedies and adverse events? In addition, these are not isolated, very rare cases that occur every leap year, but rather everyday phenomena, which the press picks up on, especially during the cucumber season, and covers them thoroughly (meaning: they pick out all the "sellable" aspects), the public is silent for a few days, and then everyone he forgets the whole thing, comes the next rubber bone to chew on, the phenomenon itself, the indifference leading to a series of tragedies, and sloppiness continues in the same way, claiming God knows how many more lives.

The formula is simple though,

the 26-year-old mother's death was caused by the same thing that caused the Colectiv tragedy at the time: corruption repeated to the point of boredom.

The same reason why this country was not able to build highways in 30 years, even though the money intended for it went somewhere, and because of which thousands of people die needlessly every year. The same thing that caused millions of people, tired of the ultimate hopelessness, to take a deep breath and go abroad to do slave labor so that they could send a little more money home to those left in poverty at home, and that makes the country's demographic map look the way it does.

We can blame the doctors, who are perhaps not so unprepared, they just can't see their heads anymore, because they are doing inhumane work with a shortage of people and in horrible conditions, while the best doctors are regularly snatched away from us by the more developed western countries, we can blame the mother, who didn't even have a shot that she is pregnant, because the level of public education - if she had access to it - is what it is, and she was probably never even given a normal sex education, we can blame the millions living in poverty who don't know, and after so many failures, disappointments and regrets they don't really want to care about their own health either,

but the final answer is always this: corruption.

Until this changes, until it is possible to sweep away the typical Balkan politicians who are smeared with all kinds of fat, who only deal with their own interests, who solve problems with fake solutions, from the velvet chairs and the greasy positions, all this will not change. Until then, the scheduled tragedies, the hypocritical snoring of public opinion, and hopelessness at all levels will remain.

Until then, the huge hernia remains in the body of society, behind which the child is lost - like among many midwives.
