The Faculty of Engineering of Pannon University organized an anniversary graduation ceremony on Friday, during which honorary diplomas were awarded to chemical engineers who graduated from the former Veszprém University of Chemical Industry.

Rector András Gelencsér emphasized in his celebratory speech in the university hall that the feeling of belonging to the institution rests on three pillars. The first is professional knowledge, which the institution bases on the work and achievements of its great predecessors through its dedicated and prepared instructors. The statues of former professors of the university lined up in the hall are not only material and historical memories, but are also present today in the spirit of the university and the values it conveys. Said,

the present can only be interpreted in the light of the past, the knowledge that can be obtained today is the result of more than seventy years of matured wisdom and experience at the University of Veszprém.

He put it this way: for those who do not know and respect the past and traditions, the acquired knowledge is like a dead tree with its roots cut off.

The second is the institution's reputation, which, in the case of Pannon University, they can be justly proud of. He stated that the name of his alma mater resonates well in the world. The Pannon University's reputation is based on professionalism and quality. The third strand is made up of institutional traditions, VEN or Santa's evenings. He believed that the latter has a very strong community-creating power. He pointed out:

the university is not just a few buildings or a higher education institution, but a collection of all the created values that past and present students and teachers have ever created.

Dean Sándor Németh presented the possibilities and achievements of the Faculty of Engineering of Pannon University, and then Krisztián Gergő Horváth gave a cultural show on classical guitar.

In a ceremonial setting, the rector of the Pannon University, András Gelencsér, and the dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Sándor Németh, handed over the honorary diplomas to the former students who obtained their diplomas at the institution or its predecessor fifty, sixty, sixty-five, seventy years ago, and in their fields of expertise and social life in other areas, they functioned excellently for a longer period of time, their behavior is worthy of public respect, and thus enhanced the reputation of the university.
