The stone sculptures of the capital's bridge are popular targets for vandals, especially the crosses bother some.
Several crosses were broken from the crowns on Margaret Bridge: the vandals damaged several stone crosses of the Holy Crown on the side facing Pest.
Later, the BRFK announced that the police are looking for three men in connection with the damaged crosses on Margit Bridge, and an investigation was launched against unknown perpetrators on suspicion of vandalism.
According to the available data, three men broke six stone crosses on the north side of Margit Bridge on the night of August 24th to 25th. The alleged perpetrators were recorded.
This is not the first time that some people find joy in this, in January 2021, a man and a woman broke the stone cross of the Holy Crown on Margit Bridge. The incident was also recorded by the public camera. After the BRFK published the recordings of the crime, the perpetrators turned themselves in.
In 2019, a 22-year-old woman kicked the cross off the stone statue depicting the Holy Crown on Margaret Bridge. After what happened, the investigators interrogated the young woman as a suspect for disorderly conduct.
Several similar acts of vandalism also occurred in Gyöngyös, in June of this year, unknown persons broke down the stone cross on the national flag monument in Gyöngyös three times in one week.
