A father and son lost their lives as a result of a failed maneuver, and members of a family suffered serious injuries.

One of the demonstration planes crashed at the Börgönd Aviation Day on Sunday, the communication center of the Székesfehérvár municipality announced. According to the information of the Fejér County Police Headquarters, a 67-year-old and a 37-year-old man lost their lives in the accident. The organizers immediately suspended the other programs of the flight day.

A Trojan type machine crashed. The plane exploded upon impact.

The North American Aviation T-28 Trojan that just crashed arrived in Hungary two years ago, Magyar Nemzet reported. This was the only one of the aircraft in the country.

Before take-off, Vilmos Rózsavölgyi, who was the owner of the plane, recalled in detail the history of the plane that traveled halfway around the world. It was produced in 1951, was with the US Air Force from 1951 to 1956, and then sold to the French. At the end of the 70s, it came back to America, in private hands, it had several owners, and finally it came into the possession of a Hungarian man.

Vilmos Rózsavölgyi and his son Árpád lost their lives in the accident.

- Today in Börgönd - which is a day loved by thousands of airplanes and sky knights every year - turned into a tragedy. We lost two pilots, and four guests of the flight day were injured, wrote András Cser-Palkovics, mayor of Székesfehérvár, in a post published on his Facebook page.

The mayor indicated that all the help that Székesfehérvár can provide is available to those affected by the accident and will continue to be available in the future. At the same time, he thanked the firemen, the paramedics, and the organizers of the flight day for their good attitude, with which they dealt with the accident.

– The shock, fear, and pain we experienced today have never been part of the flight day in Börgönd. I know, many people are now trying to tell their children, to explain what happened and why they saw such a terrible thing on that day, which should have been the admiration and joy of the pilots and the aviators. We cannot give meaning to the accident, but perhaps we can find a spiritual support, wrote András Cser-Palkovics in his post.

Pál Győrfi, the spokesperson of the National Rescue Service, said that two people died in the accident and four people suffered burns.

The ambulances providing the event started treating the injured, and then three ambulance helicopters - from Budaörs, Balatonfüred and Szekszárd - and several ambulances arrived.

Pál Győrfi said that the ambulances took three seriously injured people - a little girl, a woman and a man - to Budapest hospitals by ambulance helicopter, and a slightly injured boy to the Székesfehérvár hospital by ambulance.

The Fejér County Police Headquarters wrote on police.hu that the sport plane, which crashed for an unknown reason, fell next to a parked passenger car, which was burnt out by the impacting parts. Based on primary data, there was one person on the plane in addition to the pilot, and they died on the spot.

Three of the passengers of the car suffered serious burns and were taken to the hospital by the ambulance service.
