The left-wing politician in the EP cited a person whom a polite person would at most use as a deterrent example.
- I will quote Vladimir Ilyich Lenin: where there is a will, there is a solution - said Philippe Lamberts, a representative of the European Parliament, during his speech. The group leader of the Greens was also smiling all the while.
Balázs Hidvéghi reacted to the politician's words on his social media page:
“Philippe Lamberts quotes from the man whose ideas have caused millions of deaths and unimaginable amounts of suffering around the world. Quoting Lenin is an amazing insensitivity towards the victims and towards the Central European peoples who lived through communism.
The member of the European Parliament from Fidesz points out: this is where the European left stands today in the fall of 2023. When we vote in the EP elections next year, we will also decide whether we want to send such people and their Hungarian comrades, their left-wing comrades, to the European Parliament or not, emphasized the ruling party politician.
