This is the first junior world championship title in the history of the women's discipline.

The Hungarian women's U20 water polo team defeated Spain 13-10 and won the age group world championship.

Federal coach Márton Benczur's team lost their very first match against the Italians in Portugal with penalties, but after that, after success against the Israelis, the Americans and New Zealand, they fought back against the Italians in the semi-finals.

Two years ago, the Hungarians won a bronze medal among the juniors.
