Not only the ambulances, the road users, but now also the construction contractors are freaked out by the senseless measures that are crippling traffic in Budapest.

According to the National Professional Association of Construction Contractors (ÉVOSZ), due to the capital's traffic measures - the establishment of bicycle lanes and the periodic closure of the lower wharf in Pest - predictable construction work is gradually becoming impossible, and all this leads to an increase in costs.

In its position, the professional association drew attention to the fact that in some parts of the city center contractors are reluctant to undertake work, or only at a surcharge, because the construction and renovation area cannot be approached due to the municipal regulations tailored to the street.

According to ÉVOSZ's point of view, the economic effects of the capital's measures restricting road traffic have not been analyzed, but at the same time, according to their calculations, construction companies pay about HUF 50 billion in business tax to the capital on an annual basis, employ 100,000 Budapest residents and carry out an annual average of HUF 2,500 billion worth of construction .

Among the real revenues of the capital's budget, the biggest amount comes from business payments, and in addition to municipal taxes, companies pay public land use fees and buy collection permits at increasingly higher prices.

The member organizations of ÉVOSZ offered their professional assistance in the architectural design of alternative solutions to alleviate the traffic situation in the capital, and to reconsider its logistics system.

In the announcement, it is indicated that ÉVOSZ joins the joint resolution of the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Pest County and Érd Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in which attention is drawn to the problems caused by the capital's traffic measures.
