The Prime Minister stated that he "has always considered the Downtown Civic Salon as a model for civic circles, clubs, and salons."
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, president of Fidesz, praised the role of civic circles and strong local communities at the 20-year anniversary meeting of the Belvárosi Polgári Szalon in Budapest, Bertalan Havasi, the prime minister's press chief, told MTI.
Viktor Orbán said at the celebratory meeting, which was attended by Péter Szentgyörgyvölgyi, the mayor of the 5th district, and former mayor Antal Rogán, the prime minister's chief of staff:
An example for the whole country is what happened in the last two decades in Cukor Street in District V,
“we need to build such communities everywhere; so our opponents would never be able to divert our country from the path of development".
An exemplary community
He added: he has always considered the Downtown Civic Salon a model for civic circles, clubs, and salons. The president of Fidesz referred to the fact that the right wing has been leading the V. district for 17 years, he also recalled the period of the formation of the civil circles, praising the role of Imre Kerényi and Imre Makovecz, among others, in the creation of this national community.
Without civil circles, Hungary would not be the successful and strong country it has become.
and Fidesz would not be in government either - Viktor Orbán opined. Everything will be important in the 2024 and 2026 elections as well, since national political battles cannot be won without local "bastions", concluded the party president.
