The time has come to take control of our destiny, there is a need and a historic chance for the Hungarian community to have parliamentary representation in Bratislava again - stated Krisztián Forró, the president of the Hungarian Party of the Highlands, the Alliance in Révkomárom, at the party's campaign closing event on Wednesday.

At the end of the campaign held in the cultural center, which was packed with interested people, the party chairman emphasized the need for unity and the importance of re-creating the Hungarian parliamentary representation, pointing out that the Hungarian community can only trust itself, not the Slovak parties.

"There are many of us, very many of us, which shows how strong we are," declared Krisztián Forró. This strength was already shown in the last county elections, in which the Alliance obtained the most representative positions among all parties in Slovakia. It showed that if the Hungarians in the highlands stick together, they are capable of great things, and also that the community can only trust itself, not the Slovak parties.

"The past period has shown that if we are not there for decision-making, the Slovak parties usually forget about us. The time has come to take control of our own destiny, and there is a real need for Hungarian representation in the Bratislava parliament," emphasized Krisztián Forró.

The Hungarian representation in the counties is an unavoidable factor and it is only because of this that improvements have been achieved, but the strong county representation may also be in danger without parliamentary representation if the administrative reform introduced last year, which would abolish Hungarian-majority districts and generally the its implementation would have an extremely unfavorable effect on the areas that are still part of Hungary.

"Don't have any illusions, if we don't have a say, they will decide about us again without us, and they will decide that it will not be good for us, but we want it to be good for us here," stated Krisztián Forró, who gave his speech "On your feet Hungarians !” he concluded with an exclamation.

Krisztián Forró said in the M1 current affairs program on Wednesday evening: even last year's county elections proved that the Hungarian party in the highlands has never been so strong.

He emphasized: at their campaign events, they tried to meet as many people as possible, talk to them, and convince them to go vote and vote for the Hungarian party, so that Hungarians from the Uplands would once again be represented in the Bratislava legislature.

He emphasized that the entry of the Hungarian party into the parliament is important not only for Hungarians in the highlands, but also for other nationalities in Slovakia, given that Slovak politicians tend to forget about the problems of other nationalities as well.

"It is important to us what our future will be like," declared Krisztián Forró.

It was said in the broadcast that the Association is constantly being measured around the 5 percent entrance threshold by public opinion polls, to which Krisztián Forró responded: "it is up to us whether the Hungarians from the highlands will be represented in the Bratislava legislature."

In Slovakia, the early parliamentary elections are held on Saturday, campaign silence must be observed in the two days before the voting day, which started at midnight on Wednesday.
