Homeless people live in public spaces in tents, in cars, at some metro exits in Budapest, reports Magyar Nemzet. They emphasize: streetcar lines are already covered by beggars, and passers-by are harassed by beggars at junctions.

The homeless are already setting up camping tents in the VIII. located in district II. They sleep in sleeping bags on Pope János Pál Square, on the lawn, or crawl into cars for the night.

The lifestyle of the homeless in public spaces creates serious public health and public cleanliness conditions, they leave food on the benches and view grassy areas as public toilets.

The capital built a public toilet for this in II. on Pope János Pál Square, which appears in the community budget under the name Exemplary Public Toilets in Budapest. Many people are afraid that, in addition to the homeless, public drinkers, prostitutes and drug addicts have appeared as well.

Not only the capital, but also the districts are responsible for the conditions that have developed. Four years ago, the left-wing leadership of Józsefváros loosened the rules of community coexistence, lifted the prohibition order, according to which it is not allowed to stay in a car as a way of life, thus the number of vehicles used as caravans in the district increased, against which the staff of the public space supervision cannot take action in the absence of a decree.

Mayor András Pikó placed plastic chairs and tables throughout the district, which are used by the homeless and those who consume alcohol in public areas.

András Jámbor, member of parliament from Józsefváros, leader of the far-left Szikra Movement, put it bluntly:

simple people "have a soft drink and a beer after work".

According to Fidesz in Józsefváros, a homeless crisis has developed during the four years of the left-liberal leadership, the portal reports, which is further compounded by the fact that the anti-government demonstrations

Gábor Iványi, head of the Oltalom Karitatív Egyesület, threatened the district,

that if the local government does not give 15 million HUF to his association, he will send five hundred homeless people to the streets. The left-wing majority of the Józsefváros representative body awarded support to Oltalom, they add.
