There are two types of politicians on the left - according to the town hall corridor gossip - one who has been tricked by Karácsony at least once, and the other who will be tricked. Written by Ervin Nagy.

The mayor faces a difficult eight months ahead. His room for maneuver is limited by the campaign financing scandal, and his sovereignty by Ferenc Gyurcsány. He gets involved in a spiral of lies, but the biggest difficulty is that his own allies are talking behind his back. Criticisms are coming in on a weekly basis, and the voice of concern is getting louder. And the point in this case is not that Fidesz considers him unfit for his post, but what really matters is that the allies that make up his coalition - eight months before the elections - do not fully support him. In fact!

What is a person's enemy when they have such friends, the saying goes. Gergely Karácsony may feel something similar recently.

The mayor's former supporters are turning away from him one by one. They don't consider that certain lame explanation viable, while they rightfully snort at the fact that dozens of premium payments are being made in the capital, which is on the brink of economic bankruptcy. This is not incidentally one of the signs of total political bankruptcy. After all, what reason could Karácsony have to pay any amount of premium, while constantly complaining that the capital city could be shut down because of the government? You can't be that stupid! There is a pressing reason for the distribution of money, but it also clearly shows that Karácsony is not the master of his own office.

There is another striking proverb that also applies here: as the god of giving, so is the god of receiving. Because before we start regretting (which is the expressed intention of the mayor), let's not forget that Gergely Karácsony has already deceived many people on the left. He left many things undone, let many down. Doctoral school, language exam, Median, Zugló, candidacy for prime minister... And he also played a major role in breaking up the LMP.

There are two types of politicians on the left - according to the town hall corridor gossip - one who has been tricked by Karácsony at least once, and the other who will be tricked. There is also a more vulgar version of this, which, however, does not belong here...

We don't tend to feel sorry for a politician who has been picked on by a politician, on the other hand, one's heart falls for respected artists, scientists, writers or popular actors.

Because they are victims, victims of the mayor's political machinations.

What can be said about those who gave their names to the 99 Movement involved in the scandal? Róbert Alföldi, László Andor, József Ángyán, Ákos Péter Bod, Gábor Bojár, András Bozóki, István Elek, Zsuzsa Ferge, András Hajós, Miklós Haraszti, Tamás Jordán, Jenő Kaltenbach, János Kis, Endre Kukorelly, László Majtényi, Tamás Mellár, Osvárt Andrea, Zoltán Pogátsa, Gábor Polyák, Erzsébet Pusztai, Béla Tarr and Tamás Wittinghoff - without the need for completeness.

I wonder what the mayor will tell them about the hundreds of thousands of euros and the 3,900 British pounds allegedly collected in the chests? The colors and goodies of the left can rightly be offended.

After 2019, we became richer with a vitally important experience. We could see how the left-wing grand coalition works under the hands of a leader with limited freedom of movement and minimal sovereignty. A political constellation full of conflicting interests - if you like, this is the Budapest model, which is exemplary for all of us.

That is why it is no coincidence that the possibility of reviving Christmas hangs in the air to this day. Whoever stands behind him will demand his price. The mayor faces a really difficult eight months!
