In a situation of war, women's ability to create peace is essential, President Katalin Novák declared on Thursday in Fehérvárcsurgó, during a podium discussion during her two-day visit to Fejér county.
We are not looking for conflict, but we are coded in such a way as to smooth out conflicts, just like what we do as mothers in the family - added the head of state as an explanation among the invited women at the event called Conversations in the Sándor Palace in Fejér County.
In response to a question from Ambassador Katalin Bogyay, President of the Hungarian UN Society, Katalin Novák expressed her regret that there are hardly any women at the head of state level. There are less than 20 female heads of state in the whole world, "and being a woman is an opportunity, we are more accepted (what a man would be ashamed to say)," she said.
When asked how, as a female head of state, she tries to unite the other female leaders, the President of the Republic announced that she has invited all the female heads of state in the world to Budapest next fall, and for now it seems that everyone is planning to attend.
Our worldview and religion may differ, but we have things in common, and we can show hope to other women that there is no insurmountable obstacle, no impenetrable glass ceiling - she said, adding: this is the essence of the initiative and she is happy that the invitees are open to it.
He also mentioned that he would like to make these head of state meetings regular.
Katalin Novák also talked about what motivates her to show all women not to be afraid of starting a family, not to be afraid to take on "this difficult but solvable task", because having children and a career can go hand in hand. She emphasized that she can support full-time motherhood in the same way as someone who wants to succeed in her profession with several children.
Responding to the suggestion that there are few female parliamentarians, the head of state emphasized that public life is not so attractive to women because the parties often speak disrespectfully to each other and do not respect private life. He believes that it is necessary to set a good example, and the best way to set an example is through actions.
Perhaps if this can be changed, it can be a means to have more women in public life, said the President of the Republic.
