With the national opening in Nyíregyháza, the three-day voluntary youth campaign called 72 Hours Without Compromise, organized by the Hungarian Catholic Church, the Hungarian Reformed Church and the Hungarian Evangelical Church, began on Thursday.
The aim of the program initiated by the churches and created with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation is to promote voluntary work among young people.
In the next three days, 158 volunteer teams will complete 152 projects in 77 settlements.
This year's biblical motto of the event is: "Here I am, send me."
Among other things, young people are given tasks that they can do for the community, the elderly, and people with disabilities in their locality and in the region.
The participants collect clothes, school supplies, non-perishable food, create and tidy up public spaces, take care of gardens, organize sports afternoons for injured children, and clean abandoned graves.
In addition to these, 14-30 year olds run creative activities in nursing homes, get involved in the work of animal shelters, assist in the production of winter wood for the elderly and visit residents of homeless shelters.
